Tourist Daily After-Event Activies

For your extra enjoyment of your trip to Rio, we have planned some Rio-Laxing after-event daily activities and you are all invited to join us! We will convene right outside from RDC Auditorium, at the end of the conference daily.

Monday, 16

  • After the event, we will get together to go to a beach Kiosk in Leblon (Baixo Bebê). By the beach, we will have the opportunity to relax and have a traditional a caipirinha while looking at the sea. From PUC, the kiosk is about a 20-minute pleasurable walk by the seaside.

Tuesday, 17

  • After the event, we will walk around Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and stop for a natural juice somewhere around the lagoon. On foot from PUC, it is about a 35-minute walk.

Friday, 20

  • After the event, we head to Arpoado, the junction between Copacabana and Ipanema beahes to watch one of the world's most stunning sunset views. You just can´t miss this.  We can get there by bus or by the Metro-bus to General Osorio Station. If you enjoy walking, it is also possible to go on foot - it takes about 45 minutes. Sunset is usually between 6 and 7pm. 

Saturday, 21

  • At 9 AM, we will meet at UFRJ’s in Praia Vermelha. You can get there by bus or by cab. We will then walk around lovely Urca (during about 40 minutes) and then we will go up the Sugar Loaf (Pão de Acúcar). Afterwards, we will walk to Churrascaria Fogo de Chão, which is a well known steakhouse in Botafogo for a late lunch.
  • For those who may be looking for something more relaxing, a music event could be very pleasant. The Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra will present a special concert named “Minha alma canta” at 4 PM, honoring Rio’s 450th birthday. They will play Brazilian Bossa Nova tunes such as Águas de Março, Garota de Ipanema, Aquarela do Brasil and many others. Tickets have to be booked  in advance, so let IPC’s organizer Eneida Werner ( eneida_werner@hotmail.com) know as soon as possible if you  are interested.

Sunday, 22

  • For those who enjoy riding bikes, you will be pleased to know that we will meet at 9 AM in front of the Ipanema subway station (General Osório - Rua Visconde de Pirajá exit), rent bikes at Arpoador and ride by the seaside through Copacabana up to Leme. We can then have refreshments, enjoy the view and ride back to Copacabana’s Fort, where we will have lunch at a traditional restaurant: Colombo. We will then ride a little more through Ipanema beach and return the bikes.
  • For those who enjoy nature and prefer to hike, another group will meet at 10 AM at the entrance Parque da Catacumba, which is a beautiful tropical park. at Lagoa/Copacabana. We will take a hiking trail up the park and enjoy the view. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a local kiosk at Lagoa.

Monday, 23

  • After the event, we will get together again at kiosque Leblon (Baixo Bebê), have a caipirinha, and talk about all that happened during these IPC days together. From PUC, it is about a 20-minute walk by the seaside. Is there a better way to get ready for the end of the Congress?
